Idemitsu Museum of Arts

Opened in 1966, the Idemitsu Museum of Arts perfectly combines Japanese traditionalism and modernism. The permanent Idemitsu Collection consists of 15,000 art pieces, including two National Treasures and 54 Important Cultural Properties. It mainly displays East Asian antiques, ceramics and Japanese paintings like yamato-e, rimpa, bunjin-ga and ukiyo-e. If you are into pottery, make sure you visit the Sherd Room where Asian and Egyptian pottery fragments are housed.
