Mount Takao is one of the most famous natural recreational areas located in western Tokyo. Approximately a one-hour ride from the centre of Tokyo, the convenient location and beautiful natural surroundings make Mount Takao a perfect place for a day trip. Overlooking Tokyo, the stunning panoramic view from the summit of mount Takao is definitely unforgettable. Apart from hiking, you can pray to the mountain god in the temples and have a relaxing hot spring bath at the onsen.

1. Mount Takao is quite popular among locals. Many visit to learn about local plants and wildlife.

4. See the kokeshi doll-making demonstrations during the Maple Festival, which takes place in November each year.

5. Each hand-painted wooden doll has different facial expressions and is decorated with flowers that can be found on the mountain.
