Well-known for electronics shops and gamers, Akihabara is the location for many electronic businesses like Yodobashi electronic stores and Yamada Denki. You can find all sorts of technical gadgets here. It’s a tech geek’s paradise. On the kooky side, there are also numerous maid and gamer cafés with different gimmicks if you fancy a cuppa. Otaku culture is popular here, with boutiques specialising in anime and manga, such as Tokyo Anime Center and Mandarake.

Transport Akihabara Station (Yamanote Line and Keihin-Tohoku Line)

1. No true fan should miss the Gundam Café in Akihabara, where you can chill out with Gundam-themed delights and souvenirs!

2. Fans of the idol group AKB48 will be delighted by the dishes designed by their favourite members at this fantastic café and shop.

3. Sega arcades beckon with toys, stationery, apparel and more featuring characters from the iconic gaming brand’s most popular games.

4. Several Sega-branded arcades can be found in Akihabara, and it is easy to spend hours strolling through them and enjoying their unusual products.

5. Akihabara is considered a thriving cultural and social centre for otaku (hardcore fans, usually of manga, anime, video games and other Japanese media).
